In this little tutorial, I show you how to join two separate back shoulder pieces, casting on new stitches to create the back neck. Once both shoulders are joined, you will be ready to continue knitting on the whole back piece. The Story of a Knitter - Joji Locatelli Keynote address for VKL 2023
Hi Joji. Loved your vlog thanks. Watched your interview with Andrea, Fruity Knits and LOVED YOU!!! Thanks so much for what you taught us in that interview 🥰. I too have two boys - early twenties now - adults - flown the coop a while back but I SO love knitting for them. I love your travelling with your boys. So lovely for both of you! They are so lucky to have you as their Mum....they will know it 🥰
Love, love, love the top and shawl you have designed. I love the sleeves and the lace on the shoulders. I have been waiting for the perfect striped top and this is almost it. I just find the neck a little too low for me as I am in my 70’s. I don’t really want to wear something underneath it because that would take away from how cool the top would be. I will buy these two patterns as soon as I figure out how to make the neck a little higher. ❤
Your Hipster Top and Shawl look beautiful- really unique but also wearable. I loved hearing about your experiences on the cruise and the Myak retreat. I hope to do both some day soon. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Yes you did keep me company, love everything you showed us today❤. I’m currently working on your Ziggy Shawl and loving it. 😍
Can’t wait to knit the striped sweater but in a solid color as I loved your staple top and looking for another summer top. Of course I had to get the shawl too.
I really like the top! 😍 I am really into stripes this summer for some reason. I might make it a little longer but I love the shoulder detail.
Thank you, Joji! Another wonderful and inspirational episode. Thank you for designing a summer top during your winter. I can’t wait to make it. ❤ P.S. That cardigan, those colors. 😍
Another WONDERFUL episode!!!
Always inspiring. Thank you Joji. The video was fine on my end. We don’t mind as long as we get you. What a busy and lovely few months you have had. I am almost up to the second sleeve on my Milton. Then I will continue to add some more length to the hem. I can’t wait to wear it. It is cold here too. Christine, Australia.
Thank you. I really enjoyed this ! I’ve made your patterns over yrs and delighted to see/ hear you! Most beautiful & inspiring! Informative! Wishing you well/ good health and honor your creative spirit! In light of Dianne
Thank you , Joji! So inspiring! I am to retire soon, so looking forward to one of those cruises
Thanks for your designs and also for sharing your trips with us !!!
Such a wonderful podcast! I love hearing about your yarn and travel adventures :-)
Fisherman’s Rib?
I live in a small town in South Africa. I was watching this Journal no 74, before it finished I had purchased both Hipster patterns. I cast on the Hip Stripe Shawl as I had yarn that was just perfect for the project, a pale grey single merino, with soft pink and blue specles and a semi solid dark grey. Both dyed by a local (Cape Town) dyer called Miss La Motte. I am so enjoying the knit, thank you.
Thank you!!!! 🩷
Love Only Murderers in the Building and I’m loving that cowl and looking forward to buying the pattern . I’m going to a yarn festival and will be on the look out for yarn similar in colour to make this . Can I ask if it took 2 or 3 skeins of DK . Thanks
2 skeins!
@@jojilocat thanks for your quick reply . Can’t wait to buy yarn for it 💕
Lovely to spend time with you, great seeing all your travels. Was happy to see the Lanes cardigan, I’ve knitted that twice, once for myself in an earth toned LBA fade: made that 7 years ago and still wear it a lot: and last year I made it for my mother in fingering held with mohair, to keep her warm as she had to go into Care.
Thank you and can’t wait for work in progress no 1 brioche cardi and doggy sweater Will try your new scarf pattern
Love your journals! Always interesting to me! What do knitters like to talk about? Knitting! Yarn! Knitting adventures and travels. So no worries about what you share! I would dearly love to be able to go on a knitting retreat or cruise, so I really love to see and of the adventures of those you can.
Hallo from New Zealand love both Hipster Top and Hip stripes shawl ❤❤❤❤ ordered both😊
Hi joji, so good to see you. I was knitting ( hipstertop) en sewing while watching this journal. I don’t even notice bad light or videoquality and I don’t care either😊. I enjoy listening to you talking about knitting and your designs etc so nevermind. Bye🙋🏻♀️🩷
I bought both, Joji! I do wish there was fitting provided for a large bust, though.
Hello! What kind of fitting advice do you need? Or do you need a bigger size?
I’m knitting with Yarn Snob Yarn as I watch this!!!! Not the bomb, but I love his fingering weight yarn!
Thank you for your time 💝
I went to L&K in October 2023. I think the new space was new-ish. What a beautiful spot and everyone was so nice.
Is so happy to see the colour you’re using. Some garments just need to be colourful and others are just perfect in neutrals.
love the new patterns and want to knit them all. that Brioch cardigan I need to make it in Newspaper colours. and love the lacy sweater.
This was a great journal Joji! Thank you for sharing so much of you with us! Love the new patterns and really enjoyed listening to your stories of the trips. ❤️
Great tutorial!! Thank you so much! ❤❤
The Myak retreat was so wonderful! I love wearing the Hipster Top and knitting the Hip Stripes Shawl is SO fun! I wouldn’t have thought lace and speckled yarn worked well together but they definitely do! Your pink sweater is beautiful!
Love the patterns and all the things. Such a cute sweater for Perrie. All the best, Kimberly
Your content is so worth 😊waiting for. Wen you can please keep making yr podcasts.😊😊😊❤❤❤ finished suburban wrap and washed out. I get so many compliments abt them. Freezing temps here also in Taranaki NZ. Didn't stop my grandson surfing though... 😮
OMG!!
Love to hear about your travels. I can't wait to go on a knitting retreat. Irina's recap was a delight. Peri gets another sweater! Thanks for mentioning Windswept Fibres. I'm always looking for Canadian indy dyers. Many thanks.
Thank you for the great video, loved to hear about your trips ❤. Kind regards from Germany, Sabrina
Perry is such a beautiful model 🐕🦺🌸
I could listen to you for hours! You are so interesting! Beautiful patterns❤
I love both of the stripy patterns! So nice!
Hello from Swansea, Illinois.
Beautiful set ❤
Thank you 🤗
@jojilocat I bought the set of patterns this week! I will make the shirt longer. I like the neutral stripes. Thank you for the discount.
Hi joji. Ive finally finished binge watching yr journals... AWESOME.. i knitted all the way through. Beanies socks and currently half way through yr gorgeous suburban wrap. Thank you so much because i never wd have done so much without you.. Cheers Cathy...New Zealand
Great job!
I can’t wait to knit Mabel’s sweater!
This upcoming sweater is gorgeous! I can’t wait for release 🙂
Great tuto, thanks !
It was really fascinating to listen to you talking about yarn weight, alchemy etc. . I have quite a bit of fingering weight yarn in my stash and I know how different they can be, thinner or plumper even if the composition is very similar if not identical! I had to have a little laugh when you talked about your Tromsø hat and the yarn you had picked: gorgeous by the look of it and its name Dubonnet which is an alcohol but also means “of the hat” (French), how funny! Have a wondrous time on all your trips and we’ll be here to hear your stories when you get back!
Yarn Alchemy was a fantastic class, Joji! So much great information! I hope you’re having a wonderful time in your travels. ❤
I'm also going on the Iceland cruise and I'm beyond excited. I can't wait to take your class and meet all the other wonderful knitters! Not to mention get out of the blistering heat of August in Texas!
Love the idea of you documenting your teaching travels. I did an Alaska cruise with my mom and grandmother many years ago and it was beautiful.
Thank you great vest pattern Enjoy your knitting and look forward to next episode
The new short cardigan is so cute!!!
I love your glasses they look fantastic on you. Don't put yourself down for being a slower knitter. You do a lot of work and you need to prioritise your mental health and general wellbeing. I am glad to hear that you are doing that. I love the look of your Emery sweater and vest. I may need to make one soon. 😀
